During the weekend of 17 March 2001 our area was hit by a sever windstorm. Most ot the buildings, all of the green outdoor carpet that was used for grass and bout 20 feet of the trolley line were destroyed. This winter was very hard on the Crooked & Weedy, a lot of washouts have occured and we lost all of the fish in three ponds as well as some of the less hardy in the fourth. Since I am out of town right now, I can not post photos of the damage, but will do so ASAP. Watch here for updates in the next two months.
Update 5/9/2001 Some clean up has started! We may be up and running by Memorial Day.

The Crooked & Weedy Railway is an outdoor Garden Railway, located in Martinsburg, WV. It consists of over 1200 feet of Aristo Craft track and over 50 turnouts. It is still being built by its owners and creators Ron and Susan Wenger. It is loosely based on the operations of the Baltimore & Ohio, Western Maryland, and Atlantic Coast Line and other Railroads that became the Chessie System and CSX before the CSX CONRAIL merger. Its topography when finished will resemble an operations area in the Blue Ridge Mountain area of the Eastern US. The Crooked and Weedy is the nickname of the Chesapeake Western Railway in Harrisonburg, VA, Ron's hometown. C&W branchlines and another branch known as the Apple Valley RY also have trackage rights in this area. We regret the layout is not open to the public at this time. However it is open to other Large Scale Model Railroad enthusiast. Drop us an email to make arrangements to visit us and our railroad.
Ron and Sue are also some of the Founding Members of the Shenandoah and Potomac Valley Garden Railway Club. Contact us if your interested in Membership. Meeting are held the 3rd Saturday of the month at members homes.
In the photo above the Apple Valley Railway local is headed over the Isaic Luther Bridge between Loch Donavan and Lake Dorsey towards the town of Prosperity in Hardtimes County.
