St. Michael and Ss. Peter & Paul parishes stand solidly behind the teaching of Jesus Christ, as elucidated by the Church that he, himself, personally established on this earth and to whom he gave his own divine authority to teach in his name, that all human organisms possess the unrestricted right to live from the moment of genetic coding (i.e., conception) until the moment of natural, unassisted death; that the conceived zygote which possesses a genetic code different from that of its father and different from that of its mother, is not a part of its mother’s body, but is its own body; that the value of such life is determined not by its relative cognition, potential, life expectancy or freedom from physical or mental defect, but solely by the fact that it exists; and that anyone who does not unreservedly agree with this teaching has no right to identify himself or herself as a member of any Catholic Church. We also believe that government officials, answerable soley to a political entity, must have absolutely no role to play in the determination of what is or is not appropriate medical care.
