Thanksgiving - Christmas
The holidays are literally in the air at Canyon this season. The scent of redwood trees is everywhere, so that you may feel you have stepped into a Christmas tree lot.
The greenery, the running creek, the wild berried shrubs, the nature preserve along Pinehurst Road with its ferns, mushrooms and interesting native plants, the fresh air, the silence of the woods--all these will refresh your spirit and prepare you to eat, dance and socialize.
Visiting callers and bands love to perform here. They often comment on what a warm, welcoming contra dance community Canyon School has become. It's not the same people every month; it's something about the venue that promotes friendly socializing. There is not just one big, cold room; there is the dance room, the kitchen with its pass-through, the balcony, the halls, the front and rear porches, the other classrooms. There is a lot of room to move around and find your most comfortable place. There is enough intermission time, along with snacks, drinks and desserts to be savored. It's almost an ideal place for holiday fun.
