Dana

Dana was purchased from Jack's Aquarium here in Rosemont.  She is the last of all the iguanas that live here that was purchased.  There is a room in the back of Jack's that has a bunch of animals in behind a sliding glass door.  In a twenty gallon aquarium was Dana, a beautiful bright green juvenile iguana.  I asked the lady working there if I could hold her.  Just then Dana did the thing that sold her to me:

The clerk reached in for Dana.  Dana turned and bit the clerk.  With blood dripping down the clerk's arm, she handed Dana to me.  Dana relaxed in my hand and closed her eyes as I petted her.  SOLD!

Dana has always been a scared iguana (although she is beta).  For the first few months after I brought her home she would sleep in the closet.  To get in the closet she would go under the door.  As she got bigger, she scraped her back on the bottom of the metal bi-fold until she ended up getting infected.

Of all my iguanas Dana may be the most intelligent.  She figured out how to open metal bi-fold doors so she could sleep in the closet.  How an iguana would ever figure this out...

This year she has had to fight for her beta status as Midori challenged her.  I missed the fight where this was finally settled.
