Welcome!

scan0008.jpg

2 minute long exposure of Sag., taken from Glacier Point, Yosemite National Park 1997.

Growing

The image of the Veil Nebula (Below left) is only a small part of the entire nebula. The structure you see is the remains of a super nova explosion of a star.

The image was originally recorded in the FIT image format, converted to a BIT file, before being stored as a JPEG image for uploading to the web page.

The image contrast was adjusted slightly to make the wisps of gas more visible. The CCD camera is an ST-9 running on a Celestron 14 inch. Elevation of the telescope is about 3000 feet above mean sea level. Exposure was 60 seconds.
