| Nov: Religion (Week 8, 5 Weeks) |
Students used the web site of the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City to investigate Buddha and Buddhist art This topic was co-taught by the Technology Teacher and the Art Teacher Students logged onto the Internet and entered the URL of the Rubin Museum Following instructions from the teachers and accompanying worksheet they navigated the site, viewed the paintings, and answered questions related to Buddha in order to learn more about the religion and art Students used MS Word to type paragraphs they had written on different Nobel Prize winners |
Students learned how art can contribute to learning and education They practiced navigating the Internet and following directions They began to understand how art and artists can help us understand a particular topic They were required to carefully examine each painting and then draw conclusions that they then recorded on the worksheets Students will have the opportunity to review previous word processing skills and become more adept at using word processing for reports and assignments |

Students will use MS Word and the Internet to type and "publish" their individual reports for their classroom newspaper The newspaper articles have been written in rough draft in the classroom. Students will type their articles in MS Word, format them into columns to resemble newspapers and log onto the Internet to collect images to highlight their articles The images will be copied and pasted from the Internet onto the Word document and the finished document will be edited formated, and printed for inclusion in the class newspaper |
