| Oct: Parks (Week 4, 4 Weeks) |
Students will use the software "Kidspiration" to design their own parks out of clip art. They can be real or imaginary. Introduction to using text boxes and clip art on the computer Continue to reinforce typing and mouse skills Introduction to touch typing using "Read, Write & Type" software |

Continue to reinforce typing and mouse skills Students will use worksheets in MS Word to answer questions related to their unit: The Human Body Students will use the software "Kidspiration" to describe what they would see, hear, taste, feel, and smell on a tropical island or in the city. This was another opportunity to use clip art and text boxes |
Keyboarding and word processing need to be practiced, in a fun and instructive manner, so that students will become adept at keyboarding and find the computer as easy to use as paper and pencil Students will become aware that pictures and text can explain their ideas and work and that the computer offers them both formats, either separately or together. Creating computer pictures requires selecting appropriate clip art (arranged by subject), filling text boxes with sentences, and completing their pictures to show their own ideas of the five senses.
