These are some useful files. If I have them on the web, I can always find them. Book List - I have a large collection of books, and since I was a librarian for a while in college, I organized them by Library of Congress Catalog number. It is a work in progress. Column Loading - I'm a structural engineer and this is one of the fast reference spreadsheets I wrote. Columns have huge equations and each column has an elastic and inelastic range. Analyzing them by hand is an immense pain in the ass. I wrote this at work with Safway hardware and software, so I think it is actually corporate property and copyright of Safway Services, Inc. Before you use this, check the legality. Linear Interpolater - I hate linear interpolation of data, but I end up doing it all the time. I wrote this at home, so it is mine. Help yourself. LRFD Beam Calculator - the 3rd edition of the
LRFD specification of AISC made a bunch of nice charts for finding capacities of various
wide-flange shapes, except they left out all the W8's. Why? Are smaller beams never sized?
Seeing this, I made a spreadsheet to calculate the reduced nominal moment capacity of any
beam based on a few factors and LRFD Aluminum Beams - Ever try to find reduced nominal moment for an aluminum wideflange shape? No? I'm not surprised. Not many people have. Take it from me: it is a monumental pain in the ass. I'm a lazy guy, so I made a cheat sheet that has reduced nominal moment as a function of unbraced length. Also, I just discovered that Frontpage doesn't have a Greek character font and I can't spell it out as PMn, where the P is a phi. |
