PAF 4 Versus PAF 5

Why do I still use PAF 4 and not the latest PAF 5?  To put it simply, I am conservative in choosing something that works and not rocking the boat.  I first started doing genealogy using PAF 4, and it did everything that I wanted it to.  When PAF 5 came out, it had some download problems and a few bugs, so I delayed in upgrading.  Now I am one of the old holdovers, although both versions are still available for download from FamilySearchIf you're not an old stick-in-the-mud like me, you may want to upgrade to PAF 5 if you could use some of it's features:

bullet

Better support for Hispanic surnames

bullet

Better support for foreign fonts, including Korean and Hebrew

bullet

New support for user-designed data input forms, by which you can decide the selection and layout of the data fields you want to enter for your ancestors

bullet

On-line user's manual

bullet

Better support for LDS Church ordinances

I will admit that I am under intense lobbying from other members of the Boise PAF Users Group to upgrade to PAF 5; we'll see what happens.
