George Washington Weissinger (SR)

NOTE: as of 20 Jun 2002, there IS a change: I originally had Sallie, #2 child of GWW & Amanthus as m. to Dr. Thos. Wilson - THAT was INCORRECT! - the confusion came from my source, "Louisville's First Families" where I took "Caroline Bullitt" to be a Weissinger (since the listing of children of GWW and Amathus was just before it) - I re-read the pertinent paragraph, and realized that she WAS REALLY A BULLITT. see: Caroline Bullitt
I now have Sallie Weissinger (from her tombstone Cave Hill Cem., Louisville KY )more correctly identified below:


           
           1.  GEORGE WASHINGTON^1 WEISSINGER, son of George Sr.         
               WEISSINGER and of Winifred ANDERSON, born 1807 Augusta     
               area, Columbia Co.?, GA; died 25 Feb 1850 Louisville, KY.  
               He was married (1) May 1829, Louisville, KY to AMANTHUS    
               BULLITT, daughter of Cuthbert BULLITT and of Anne NEVILLE; 
               and was married (2) 21 Sep 1847, Taylorsville, Spencer Co.,
               KY to ELIZA YODER POIGNAND, daughter of David Rozel        
               POIGNAND and of Eliza YODER.                               
                                                                          
               Children of GEORGE WASHINGTON^1 and AMANTHUS (BULLITT)    
               WEISSINGER were as follows:                                

                          i. BLANCHE^2, born 1830/1832 to fit siblings   
                             births.  She was married 21 Jan 1858,        
                             Louisville, KY to THOMAS FLOYD, LT. (CAPT?)  
                             SMITH, son of Thomas Floyd (Maj.) SMITH and  
                             of Emilie CHOUTEAU.                          

                         ii. SALLIE, born 1834 prob Louisville; died 1856 
                             Louisville, KY; buried Cave Hill Cem.,       
                             Louisville, KY.  She was married prob ca     
                             1852-56, Louisville, KY to HERMAN BECKURTS.  

                        iii. GEORGE WASHINGTON, JR. COL., born 11 Dec 1836
                             Louisville, KY; died 24 Feb 1903 Louisville, 
                             KY.  He was married 5 Dec 1865, prob.        
                             Louisville to AMELIA NEVILLE PEARCE, daughter
                             of Edmund PEARCE and of Myra STEELE.         

                         iv. HARRY, born 24 Nov 1842; died 9 May 1915     
                             Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY.  He was       
                             married 27 Jun 1867, Louisville, KY to       
                             ISABELLA MUIR.

               WEISSINGER were as follows:
