"Cuthbert Bullitt and his wife, Anne, were the parents of eight children, four of whom have families socially prominent in the city: Neville Bullitt, who married Ann Amelia Steele, the father of Neville Bullitt; William Bullitt, who married Virginia Anderson, the father of the late Alexander Bullitt, and of Malcolm and Howard Bullitt (Alexander and Malcom Bullitt married two sisters, Clare and Heloise Kennedy); Amanthis Bullitt, who married George Weissinger, the mother of George Weissinger, who married Amelia Neville Pearce; of Blanche Weissinger, who married Capt. Thomas Floyd Smith; of Harry Weissinger, who married Isabelle Muir, and of Caroline Bullitt, who married Dr. Thomas Wilson, the mother of eight daughters."
You can understand how I thought, in this case, the Bullitt was Caroline's middle name, and placed her in the Weissinger family. I knew there were 4 children, and thought that the "Sallie" I knew about, was a nickname, middle name, whatever, for the Caroline, above, who married Wilson and had 8 girls! It was only by a re-reading, when I counted, that the 4th of those "socially prominent" folks was Caroline Bullitt.
and that if I read it with spaces, lines and proper punction it would read:
Cuthbert Bullitt and his wife, Anne, were the parents of eight children, four of whom have families socially prominent in the city:
Neville Bullitt, who married Ann Amelia Steele, the father of Neville Bullitt;
William Bullitt, who married Virginia Anderson, the father of the late Alexander Bullitt, and of Malcolm and Howard Bullitt (Alexander and Malcom Bullitt married two sisters, Clare and Heloise Kennedy);
Amanthis Bullitt, who married George Weissinger, the mother of George Weissinger, who married Amelia Neville Pearce; of Blanche Weissinger, who married Capt. Thomas Floyd Smith; of Harry Weissinger, who married Isabelle Muir, and of
Caroline Bullitt, who married Dr. Thomas Wilson, the mother of eight daughters. [emphasis supplied)
This makes it read - "four families" - viz Neville, William, Amanthis [sic] and Caroline.
Just one more proof that to assume makes an "ass U me" - and it was only as I had sent me a picture of a monument located in Cave Hill Cem., Louisville KY, that detailed the 8 girls of Dr. Thomas Wilson and wife Caroline Bullitt, and Then read p31 more closely, and realized that it was indeed these "eight daughters" of Dr. Thomas and Caroline WILSON, that I realized the enormity of my error!
Caroline Bullitt, therefore, is the Sister of Amanthus Bullitt who married George Washington Weissinger, NOT her child!
FYI- I am including Caroline's individual record, as I have it as of 20 June 2002.
The more we know, the more we don't know.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES:

This paragraph really reads hard, at first I though her a Weissinger, but further, harder reading, I've
decided she was a Bullitt.
disconnected her from Weissinger line, and re-connected her as sister to Amanthus Bullitt who married GWW, b

Since I found a stone for Sallie, and another? for I think Caroline and husband Thomas, I have come to
conclusion there were Two BOTH Caroline AND Sallie! BUT Caroline was a BULLITT and Sallie a WEISSINGER? - need
to act with caution! in spite of "Louisville's First Families":30 note that the listing is for Amanthus. (19
Jun 2002 - have decided that Caroline was Amanthus' Sister, and Sallie GW's daughter! and dis-conected,
re-connected to show this - fpm)
