Rho Ophiuchi Nebulosity
Ophiuchus-Scorpius Boundary Near Antares

The area south of Rho Ophiuchi is a favorite target for astrophotographers. This image covers a rectangle of sky approximately 4 x 5 degrees. Only film or CCD cameras are sensitive enough to show the exquisite colors. Visual observation, even with a large telescope reveals little color.
