M82 / NGC3034
The inset image of the central area of M82 shows extensive disruption and possibly a bifurcated structure which lends support to the colliding galaxies model. The gravitational disruption caused by two super-massive black holes in close proximity would be enormous. There are other explanations for M82's disrupted appearance; no model is generally accepted.
There appears to be extensive star formation activity and the disk shows little or no spiral structure. There do appear to be three or four shock front arcs radiating from the apparent center of the structure on both sides. Embedded in these shock fronts are numerous bright star formation regions. This is not a good place for your planet.
