The Roaring Twenties Students will examine the reasoins for the booming economy in the 1920's and what were some of the root causes for the Great Depression.

The Great Depression and the New Deal Students will examine the Great Depression and its effects on US society and the economy. They will analyze the Presidency of Franklin Roosevelt and the successes and failures of his New Deal.

  World War II Students will analyze the reasons behind US involvement in World War II, US strategy and the key turning points of the conflict, and the effects of the war on the home front.

The Cold War Student wille examine the origins of the Cold War, the key events of the conflict and its impact on US domestic and foreign policies.

  The 1960's Students will explore the main foreign and domestic events of the 1960's decade. This will include the Kennedy era, LBJ's Great Society, Vietnam and anti-war protests, the assassinations of MLK and RFK.

April

Nixon and the Reagan Revolution Students will explore the achievements of the Nixon Presidency, the Carter years and the Reagan Revolution. Special attention will be paid to the Reagan legacy.

  Challenges facing Latin America Students will examine the conflict between political systems in Latin America including the rise of right wing (military) dictatorships and of socialist (populist) governments. The development of these models will be examined in the context of the political history of Latin America since independence in the 19th century.

Students will assess the relationship with the United States, NAFTA, and other aspects.

New Challenges for America Students will consider some of the key pressing issues for America including its leadership on international issues such as the war on terrorism, internaional trade, nuclear non-proliferation, the environment, energy and more.

Students will consider issues of illegal immigration and poverty in America as well as other domestic challenges facing this country.
