Hello!!!!  Welcome to our pages.  This is dedicated to all animals, but there is a lot of stuff about us.  Rats that is.  My name is Jack, just Jack.  No jokes about Jack be nimble or Jack in the box please!

I live in Southern California with 4 other rats, 2 dogs and a cat.  Our mom, as we like to call her, rescued some of us from awful places or animal rescues. I was rescued by Angela's Rabbit Rescue and mom came and picked up me and my friend DunDun.

Fez came first.  He arrived just after the fourth of July 2000.  Actually he didn’t just arrive, we methodically went to a pet store in South Pasadena and chose him.  He was in a tank with two other very large boys.  He seemed dwarfed by them, and he was cute (later we found out it was probably because of his distinctive ears, he is a Dumbo).  But being the rat novices we were (notice the past tense there) we brought him and the largest cage we could find and any rat toy or treat that looked tempting.  New parents, what do you expect!

Fez was timid and hid in the corner of his cage.  He eventually came to get a treat, but did not like being picked up and would squeak loudly in protest.  We thought this was a bit odd and about a week after he came to live with us, and after he drew blood biting a finger that was poked though the cage mesh, we began to do some research (on the web of course).

Well low and behold, rats are social and do not like to be alone (I guess we were really the dumbo's not Fez).

Neo came from a rat breeder that hubby found on the WEB.  After learning more than we ever realized could be available about ratties, we promptly brought home a cage-mate for little Fez.

I went to pick out the little (hmm... big) guy. All born 5/5/00 (Cinco de Mayo)  Hattie Mc Rattie had several boys to choose from and I sat down and placed them all on my lap.  I told her the first to my shoulder goes home with me!

Neo hit the Lotto.  He was named for his swift movements and quick wit, sly and cunning treat stashing. (Remember the guy from "The Matrix"?)  Well Neo has settled into middle age, and his name is but a distant memory of his younger self.

Here is Jack and DunDuns story. Apparently Jack was beat up on by another rat and had a rough time. He is 1 year old in April.

Dun Dun who is just 3 months was housed with him while he was recuperating from some horrible abuse! Some child (who will probably go on to be a serial killer, or worse) pour lighter fluid on the cage with momma and babies. Only 2 ratlets survived. They were at the very bottom of the nest, Hope and DunDun. Their burns were were cared for by a loving foster momma, and now I have DunDun and Jack. Couldn't separate roomies.

Hope is still available for adoptions at Angelas Rabbits. Click on the small animal link. She is a great Lady!

Francis joined our little family in August of 2001, she was about 8 weeks old. She came from The Pasadena Humane Society. I was surfing the WEB and have the link as one of my *favorites*, well there was that cute little face.  I was picking her up and scheduling her to be "spayed" at the same time.   I only had one cage, at the time, its very big.  Plenty of space for three. Francis was named after my favorite Saint, "Saint Francis" patron saint of all animals.

After being spayed and getting to spend 3 whole weeks by herself in my bedroom, learning to trust me and hubby, healing and basically being spoiled rotten.  Introductions were made;  After MUCH anticipation by the Fez and Neo. All three live happily ever after.

Both Francis and Neo went to the Rainbow Bridge. Francis on 7/29/02 and Neo on 7/31/02. I miss them both so very much.

Tribute pages will be published soon.
